New offices for the Badminton Estate

11 May 2026

Planning permission and Listed Building Consent has been obtained by the MEP team for the conversion and upgrading of an existing building to offices. The proposal also included the demolition of part of the building which housed the former skittles alley.  Previously used for a community use in addition to offices, Portcullis had accommodated the Estate offices since 1952 however is now rather outdated.

The site is particularly sensitive in heritage terms as it is a Grade II listed building, is surrounded by neighbouring listed buildings, is located within a conservation area and affects the setting of the Grade I Registered Badminton House and Gardens.

The newly permitted scheme, which is located within Badminton village, represents a more sustainable and vibrant place for the team to work, enhancing the environment for the employees of the Badminton Estate.

The MEP team led the application for both planning permission and Listed Building Consent and in doing so addressed matters relating to heritage issues alongside the principle of development, including the loss of a community facility.
