On behalf of a private client, MEP has secured planning permission and Listed Building Consent for the installation of 100 solar panels at Twigworth Business Centre, Gloucestershire. The site was the subject of considerable constraints including a Grade II listed building.
Permission has been granted for the solar panels to be installed on the roofs of the former listed farmstead buildings โ now converted to commercial use โ of Twigworth Court Farm.
The MEP team was instructed by the client to create and lead the team which included heritage consultant, Richard Morris and Associates, and architects Sutton Cox.
Working closely with the team and Tewkesbury Borough Council, MEP was able to overcome the initial concerns raised by the LPA. The team was able to demonstrate that the public benefits, which included the enhancement of the long-term futures of the listed farm buildings through the installation of solar panels that will reduce the carbon footprint of the site as a whole, outweighed any harm. This is particularly so in a time of increasing awareness of the impact of climate change.
The permission will ensure that the business park can now be powered by clean sustainable energy.
