Site details and constraints
The buildings are Grade II listed former farm buildings which form part of the business park at Twigworth Court, Gloucestershire.
Twigworth Business Centre comprises office conversion from traditional farm buildings and provides office accommodation with units of 300 sq ft to 2,500 sq ft.
Our role
The MEP team instructed architects Sutton Cox and heritage consultants Richard Morriss and Associates.
Working closely with the team and Tewkesbury Borough Council, MEP was able to overcome the initial concerns raised by the LPA. The team was able to demonstrate that the public benefits, which included the enhancement of the long-term futures of the listed farm buildings through the installation of solar panels that will reduce the carbon footprint of the site as a whole, outweighed any harm. This is particularly so in a time of increasing awareness of the impact of climate change.
Outcomes
Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent has been obtained for 100 solar panels.
The permission will ensure that the business park can now be powered by clean sustainable energy whilst also ensuring the enhancement of the long-term futures of the listed farm buildings.
