New dwellings for a Cotswold Village secured under Class MA

23 July 2024

On behalf of the Royal Agricultural College, MEP is delighted to have secured permission under Class MA for the change of use of a building formerly used for training and educational purposes to 5 residential dwellings.

The site is located on the outskirts of the village of Driffield, adjacent to, but not within, the Conservation Area.

Following the legislation change on the 5th March 2024, the team obtained the prior approval from the Cotswold District Council for this large building which will allow the client to convert this commercial building (Class E) to residential.

Owing to the fact that the MEP team was able to demonstrate that the proposal would cause no harm to a number of matters including highways, contamination, noise, flooding, conservation area and amenity, the application moved smoothly through the system with positive statutory consultee responses.

If you are looking for alternative uses to a commercial building, and would like to consider whether a residential use is possible via the Class MA route, please do get in touch.
