Permission granted for the re-use and refurbishment of historic building in South Gloucestershire

15 September 2023

Forming part of a wider rural estate, a Grade II Listed building, formally a C3 use, was repurposed as a cottage with subsequent extensions. In recent years the buildings fell into a state of disrepair. Therefore, to secure its historic significance for the future, a planning and listed building consent application was submitted and successfully approved.

The proposals were designed to preserve the architectural and historic interest, craftsmanship of the building, retaining the core historic fabric whilst providing sympathetic new extensions to retain a viable holiday let use.

The conservation officer was wholly supportive of the proposal to reinstate the building to a viable use, noting the historic significance attached to the building. An initial concern relative to ecology was resolved by providing further information regarding mitigation measures, satisfying concerns.
