Old Town, Renishaw

Background

On behalf of Renishaw PLC, the MEP team was instructed to redevelop a site located within the centre of Wotton-Under-Edge. The site, which was originally occupied by a former school house, office and parking, is the subject of a lengthy planning history and is heavily constrained in relation to heritage and landscape allocations.

Site details and constraints

The site is located in the centre of Wotton Under Edge. Located within the Conservation Area, Cotswold National Landscape, the site contains two buildings, one of which is Grade II and the other which is an undesignated heritage asset.

Our role

A previously proposed residential scheme was refused by the LPA, the decision of which was upheld by the Planning Inspectorate at appeal. MEP negotiated closely with heritage consultants, architects, transport planners and the LPA to overcome the concerns raised.

Outcomes

Planning permission has been secured for the conversion of the two existing buildings to 5 dwellings alongside the erection of 4 new dwellings.
